1/4 of the way there!

Phase 1 of IS101 has been no walk in the park, but I feel like I have weathered the storm well. I have been using the breaks between medical procedures at work to work on LabSim when I have the opportunity. For Phase 2, I am going to continue tackling the workload the way I have. If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it.

Chapter 4 in LabSim was one of the more beneficial assignments to me, especially section 4.8.2 Table Formatting. At work my supervisor tasked me with keeping track of items that are going to expire quarterly. My supervisor showed me how to create a table so I could log the item number, name, location, and expiration date.

The first exam for this class is coming up in March, MO-110 Word certification. We have a syllabus that lays out the sections from LabSim that are on the exam. To prepare for this exam I am going to redo the sections on LabSim until I feel confident that I have a good grasp on the material.

I am not a very social person until I get to know you, or I feel comfortable around you. So, you could say I am very introverted. One thing I will share is that I am an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan, but not a delusional one. Hahaha

  1. An enthusiastic but not a delusional fan?

Glad I had a chance to see your A3 Slideshow Presentation on Dallas Cowboys before commenting on this blog post so I get the context ^_^

Using and formatting tables properly in Word is one my favorite skills to showcase :-)

You definitely weathered the storm well in Phase 1. May you continue and perform even better in Phase 2, Noel!

  2. Hey Noel,

I really liked reading your post. It’s awesome how you’ve been able to balance work and school, especially squeezing in LabSim during breaks — that takes serious discipline.

Section 4.8.2 was super useful for me too. I’ve started using tables way more often, even outside of class stuff. It’s one of those skills that seems small at first but ends up making a big difference.

Also, I totally relate to the introvert part. This class has actually helped me open up a bit more than I expected.

Hope Phase 2 goes even smoother for you ^-^

  3. Hey Noel, it is amazing to see how you use what you learn at work and also learn new things in work that help you with the course work.

I haven't followed football, but I learned a lot about the history of the sport, thanks to your detailed presentation.

  4. Looks like you handled Phase 1 pretty well! The table formatting seems like a great skill to apply at work. I bet you did great on your MO-110 prep!

  5. Hey Noel,

Great job pushing through Phase 1.

It’s clear you’ve got a solid work ethic and a smart approach to managing your time. I like how you're applying what you learn directly to your job, especially with the table formatting task. Your plan to revisit the material sounds like it was a winning strategy on MO-110 exam.

And hey, nothing wrong with being a proud (but realistic) Cowboys fan!

  6. Hi Noel! I’m confident that Phase 2 will be no problem for you since you did great during Phase 1. I’ve never really used table formatting in Microsoft Word since I usually created most tables in Excel, but I can see myself using this tool more in Word now. I’m the same way when it comes to being introverted, but it’s been great talking to you after a few weeks in this course. I don’t really watch football, but hopefully the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl for you soon!

  7. Hello Noel!

That’s great dedication toward this course to be tackling the assignments during work breaks.

That LabSim assignment is a very beneficial one when needing to create a chart. That was a favorite to learn.

  8. Hey Noel! I think if you were able to "weather the storm" for phase one, phase three has no chance against you. Formatting in Word is honestly such an essential skill, especially when it comes to logging, so it sounds like this chapter was effective for you. You know, my last name is "Vaquero," which means Cowboy in Spanish, and I used to have a teacher tell me that I was a Cowboy's fan by default, not sure how I feel about that now, especially after your presentation, LOL!

  9. That’s awesome how you’re fitting LabSim into your work schedule major respect for that! I agree, Chapter 4 was super helpful, especially the table formatting part. Sounds like you’ve got a great plan for the MO-110 exam too. And hey, nothing wrong with being introverted plus, shoutout to a realistic Cowboys fan! Good luck with Phase 2!

  10. Hey Noel, I agree that this class is not too hard, but it takes a lot of time to finish all the work. I'm pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, so using and reading tables will be a big part of the job. Everything we have learned in LabSim is new to me, so it has been a little harder.

  11. Hi Noel, I agree that phase 1 was not easy. I like how you use your time to do labsim. I also try to do labsim when i'm at work, when its slow. I'm glad that my coworkers are understanding of that.

  12. Hi Noel, that is definitely a good thought you got going on, "If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it." Thats how I feel with my truck people always tell me I should delete it and do all kinds of things to it. My truck runs amazing the way it sits.

  13. Hi Noel, it's good to see that even between medical stuff you still are pushing through and doing your work properly! You got this!

  14. I was doing the same thing at my old position whenever we had downtown I would start working on LabSim. Nothing wrong with being an introvert as long as you’re happy๐Ÿ˜Š
